Biography

Jacob Covenhoven b. 11 November 1751 Monmouth, NJ. He first married Arriantje Couwenhoven, daughter of Jacob Jacobse Couwenhoven and Margaret Couwenhoven. He secondly married 29 December 1782 in Freehold, NJ to Eleanor Smock b. 28 October 1756, daughter of Revolutionary War patriot Johannes Smock b. 13 February 1726/27. [1] Jacob last, and thirdly, married in 1788 to Nelly Schenck.

Jacob fathered 15 children by his three wives. His will was dated 24 April 1815 in Freehold, Monmouth, New Jersey. Jacob passed away 28 April 1815. His will mentioned the following 14 living children and his mother Mary Conover, who was to be maintained in his home by his youngest two sons, Rulef and Isaac, until her death.
